Depression is often connected to the colour black, being inside a dark pit of nothingness. These images represent depression and the emotions that go on inside people's heads. Feeling as if part of you is slowly chipping away each day, fading away. People are surrounded by black clouds, their minds filled with darkness. Black is such an important colour to include in my photographs as it represents the gloom of depression, the vulnerable state it puts people in. Black ink when inserted into a tank of water will create clouds of smoke which perfectly symbolises depression. Visual aids are very suitable when people don't know how to express how they feel, or can't describe how they are struggling. Artwork is such a useful and relatable form of expression. It paints a picture of feelings that people cant find the words for, visualises emotions.
