fragility of flowers in a new light. Jon would freeze a fresh flower, waiting until it turns solid and then he would smash it with a hammer, creating these bursts of destruction. In terms of relating to my project, this also represents how life can be destroyed and ruined by external factors. You can see the vulnerability of the flower in the first image, standing alone in it's fresh form - compared to the after effects of a mental illness or condition in the second image. The photographs are basic, using a plain white backdrop, which for this purpose would be suitable but if I were to recreate this technique then I would add other elements of colour, perhaps a black or coloured backdrop to emphasise the dramatic effect of the smashing.
