My proposal for this project is to produce images that symbolise and represent different mental health issues, mostly focusing on depression and BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and how a variety of colours and patterns can symbolise moods and feelings caused by these mental illnesses. I want to focus on these specific mental illnesses because both of these conditions are effecting people in my family and therefore producing a project that will exploit these problems will not only help me to understand but to help these family members express their emotions so they can understand it more themselves.
These varieties will be expressed through coloured inks inside a water tank, eventually with some kind of submerged object that may be significant to the people in my family or an object that will represent them being effected. I will research the psychology of colours and how they can be perceived in different ways to different people and how these colours represent depression and BPD.
